The Triple Crown
Unofficially,
motorsport's triple-crown comprises the Le Mans 24-Hours race, the F1 World
Championship and the Indianapolis 500. To date, only Graham Hill has achieved
this accolade.
Four
F1 world champions have won at Le Mans (Mike Hawthorn, Phil Hill, Jochen Rindt
and Graham Hill).
Only
two drivers have won both at Indianapolis and at Le Mans (A. J. Foyt and Graham
Hill).
Nowadays,
Le Mans usually clashes with the Canadian GP, so it is unlikely that any Grand
Prix driver would compete in the French classic during his Formula One career.
Jacques Villeneuve won Inianapolis 500 in 1955 and
the F1 world Championship in 1997. He finshed second in Le Mans 2008
An
alternative is SPOTSCAR RACING’S TRIPLE CROWN - Le Man, Daytona 24 Hours and
Sebring 12 Hours
This
was first won in 1970 by Hans Herrmann, and by Timo Bernhard in 2010.
